Basic Information
Here is a little bit of information about different genders and ages of horses so that you can get an idea how to play different ages and genders.
There are mares which are females and stallions which are male, there is also a gelding which is a male horse that has been castrated so cannot mate any longer they are sterile.
Stallions Stallions are normally the leaders of a herd, their job is to be the protectors of every equine in that herd, they sometimes need to fight to keep that herd safe. They need a lead mare once they have three equines other than themselves in that herd and then her job is to lead the herd around lands to find them good grazing, she will also look after the other mares and can fight if she needs to protect them. When stallions are below 3 years old they are known as a colt which shows they are not three, they also do not reach maturity until they are three which means they cannot own land, have mares, breed or fight but they may mock fight which is part of their learning. Once stallions reach 3 years old they are normally thrown out of the herd as the stallion feels threatened y them as they may try to fight him, once they lead often groups of males will join a bachelor herd which is a group of stallions that live as a herd again there will be one of them that leads the others as they practise at being good leaders for when they do get a herd.
Mares Mares are normally members of the herd although they can occasionally own land and have a herd without a stallion, where they then have the role of the stallion and again after there are three equines a lead mare must be chosen or a stallion found. A lead mares job is to lead the herd around lands to find them good grazing, she will also look after the other mares and can fight if she needs to protect them. When mares are below 3 years old they are known as a filly which shows they are not three, they also do not reach maturity until they are three which means they cannot own land, have herd, breed or fight but they may mock fight which is part of their learning. Once mares reach 3 years old they are either allowed to stay or they are kicked out and have to find a new herd as stallions know that it is not good to inbreed with family.
Ages There are some names given to certain age groups which will help describe what age they are, a foal is a baby horse and is called that until they are one year old then they become a yearling until they are two where most just call them either a filly or colt depending on the gender, those words can be used earlier for example a colt foal or a yearling filly can be used to describe age and gender. After three years untill seven years old they are in their prime and are mature but after seven years they are seniors, often a senior stallion wont keep his herd if he fights but some can manage it if they are wise enough.

The Alliances
Lights This alliance tend to be quite stuck up since they think they can do anything, they are not scared of the darks. They think what they are doing is always right and think that they are perfect when in reality some of the things they are doing only mean that they are power hungry. They tend to be arrogant and will stick their heads up away from the low life, they believe in royalty and that it should be stuck to.
Darks The believed baddies of the world because of what Lucifer once did in his reign, again these equines are arrogant and power hungry wanting to seek revenge on the lights who they have more in common with than they will ever say or agree to. They on the other hand do know that not everything they do is right and know that they have selfish qualities. Some darks have softer sides and tend to just lurk in the shadows and go along with what the darks do.
Neutrals The only true equines they just want peace but that want is what means they have to stay hidden as the other two alliances want them dead believing they are just indecisive equines. The neutrals just want to try and convert the followers of the darks and lights that although follow them don't agree with what they are doing. The neutrals don't very often speak of their alliance and find it easy to pose as either lights or darks when they need too.
